Colleagues,
This summer, Texas A&M AgriLife Research established the Director’s Superior Grantsmanship Award to recognize the high achievements of our research faculty members in grant writing—specifically—those who have achieved a superior and sustained level of extramural funding over the past three years. These individuals have consistently developed big, novel ideas and concepts that have convinced funding agencies to invest in them.
The top 2% of AgriLife faculty in securing extramural finding will receive an award of $15,000, and the next 3% will receive $5,000. Only faculty members in good standing whose current retention or hiring agreement does not provide for special IDC distribution are eligible.
Today, I am happy to announce the inaugural recipients of the Director’s Superior Grantsmanship Award. Their names are below, in alphabetical order. For the top 2%, the three-year total grant expenditures and indirect costs ranged from $1,990,247 to $4,115,926. For the next 3%, that range was $1,392,096 to $1,873,622. Please join me in congratulating this accomplished group of scientists.
As we congratulate the award winners, we also celebrate the accomplishments of everyone at AgriLife Research. Thank you for all you do to advance our research enterprise!

Patrick J. Stover, Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor, Texas A&M AgriLife
Dean, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
