Colleagues,
I am so happy that the first 30 Dean’s Excellence Scholars have been selected.
As you may remember, during AgriLife Connect in January we announced the Dean’s Excellence Scholarships, the largest scholarship campaign in the history of our Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Read more on AgriLife Today about the excellent first group of students to receive these scholarships.
Work is underway with the Texas A&M Foundation to invite donors to fund the College’s goal of 120 endowments at $100,000 each. The endowments will ensure that each year, 30 freshmen can receive $4,000 for four years to assist in funding their undergraduate education.
While this endowment campaign continues, our College has pledged to fund 60 scholarships for 2023 and 2024 incoming freshmen, around 30 scholarships per year. I, myself, have benefited from scholarships and know how life-changing this kind of aid can be!
The quality of students who applied for the Dean’s Excellence Scholarships this year and the record-breaking number of incoming freshmen indicate that the College and our fifteen departments are recruiting the best and brightest students.
Thank you all for moving our mission forward!
Jeffrey W. Savell
Vice Chancellor and Dean, Agriculture and Life Sciences
