Colleagues,
Join me in congratulating several of our AgriLife colleagues making headlines over the past two weeks!
The Texas A&M Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering shares the No. 1 ranking in the U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” list for 2025 undergraduate programs.
The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering is a joint effort between the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Engineering. The department rose two positions in the U.S. News & World Report ranking from No. 3 in 2024, and I am so pleased to see that dedication to fostering innovative opportunities for faculty and students is earning national recognition. A special thank you goes to Patricia Smith, Ph.D., the head of the department, along with our dedicated faculty, staff and students, for this remarkable achievement.
Last week we also announced Research.com’s recent worldwide rankings, which put Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Animal Science and Texas A&M AgriLife Research faculty as the first and second spots of the best scientists in “Animal Science and Veterinary.”
Fuller Bazer, Ph.D., is highlighted as the top researcher in the world in those fields, with a D-index of 132. Ranking second in the world is Guoyao Wu, Ph.D., with a D-index of 131. The two have independently and collaboratively led the way in determining how nutrients such as amino acids, metabolites like lactate, and signaling proteins are essential for optimal growth, development and health in both animals and humans. This type of nationally and internationally recognized excellence elevates Texas A&M University and Texas A&M AgriLife, and I hope it inspires all of us to continue to excel. Please help me in congratulating these teams!
Thank you all for your efforts, and Gig ’em!
