Amy Swinford, DVM, serves as director for the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL), a state agency in the Texas A&M University System. Dr. Swinford has been serving TVMDL since 2015 and provides assistance in executive operations of the agency, including the Canyon, Center and Gonzales laboratories. Dr. Swinford previously served as interim resident director for the Canyon laboratory.
Prior to becoming director, Dr. Swinford was the microbiology branch chief and bacteriology section head at the College Station laboratory. Dr. Swinford has been with TVMDL since 2005, first heading the bacteriology section before becoming branch chief in 2012 where see oversaw bacteriology, molecular diagnostics, and serology and virology sections.
