Goal:
The goal of our third Texas A&M AgriLife photo contest is to gather photos which best convey the meaning of the word AgriLife, or the fact that “Agriculture is Life.”
Guidelines:
- To enter, submit a digital photo on a CD ROM and include a completed entry form for each photo. You may submit more than one entry per CD. Do not submit photos older than January 1, 2009. Photos will be electronically vetted and photos older than January 1, 2009 will be disqualified.
- Contestants will be limited to three entries. Entries may be from one or all three categories (see below). Choose the single category that best fits your photo. Photos submitted for one category may not be entered in another.
- One first-, second-, and third- place photo will be selected from each photo
category. From these finalists, one photo will be selected as Best of Show. The individual submitting the Best of Show photo will receive $250. Each first place will receive $100, each second place will receive $75, and each third place will receive $50. - All winning submissions will be exhibited during the 2010 Texas A&M AgriLife Conference held January 11-15. Submissions will not be returned and will become the property of The Texas A&M University System.

Photo Categories
Choose from any of the three photo categories:
- People/Animals: Any photo with people or animals or both
- Landscape/Waterscape: Photos of land or water, buildings and/or other objects on land or water
- Still Life: Any inanimate object or group of objects
Eligibility
All current employees (faculty or staff) of The Texas A&M University System
employed within Texas A&M AgriLife, which includes the College of Agriculture
and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University, Texas AgriLife Research, Texas AgriLife
Extension Service, Texas Forest Service, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic
Laboratory are eligible to enter the competition. All entries must be the original
work of the contestant.
Submissions
Submit photos on a CD ROM formatted for both IBM PC and Mac. You may submit
photos taken with a digital camera or with a film camera and scanned into a digital
format. Photographic prints and slides are ineligible. Only TIFF or JPEG formats
will be accepted.
Photo Resolution
All photos submitted must be at the highest resolution possible for your camera.
Digital Manipulation
Digitally manipulated entries are welcome. Note any digital technique in the
description of your photo. If you do a substantial amount of work to the photo in
a digital-photo editing program, list the program and describe the techniques that
you used to manipulate the photo. Do not use any text on the photos.
Judging
A panel of faculty, staff, and other professionals not associated with any entry will
serve as judges for the competition. Photos will be judged on overall photographic
and artistic quality and how well they conveys the meaning of AgriLife, “Agriculture
is Life.”
Digital File Names
Use file names in the following format: first initial/last name/number.jpg or. tif.
Example: jdavis1.jpg or jdavis2.tif
Entries with the photographer’s name or date on the digital photo itself will not be
accepted.
Deadline
All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009.
